About Us
The Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) at Benenden Primary School plays a vital role in enriching school life for all our children. We are a friendly group of parents, carers, teachers and supporters who work together to raise funds, run fun events, and strengthen the school community.
Throughout the year, we organise a range of activities such as school fairs, discos, quiz nights, raffles and more. The money we raise helps provide extra resources, experiences and opportunities that directly benefit the children – from new playground equipment to educational workshops and enrichment trips.
Everyone is welcome to get involved – whether you can help at events, share ideas, or simply offer occasional support. It’s a great way to meet others, support the school, and make a difference.

The Benenden Primary School PTFA exists to:
- Build a strong school community through inclusive, fun, and purposeful events.
- Raise additional funds to support and enhance the educational experience and well-being of all pupils.
- Foster positive relationships between parents, carers, staff, and the wider community.
2. How Money Is Raised
Funds are raised through:
- Organised events (e.g. fairs, discos, raffles, quiz nights)
- Non-event income (e.g. uniform sales, donations, grants, matched funding)
- Online fundraising platforms (e.g. Easyfundraising, JustGiving)
All fundraising activities are managed and supported by PTFA volunteers in collaboration with school staff.
3. Who Raises the Money
Money is raised by:
- PTFA volunteers (parents, carers, teachers and friends of the school)
- Support from school staff and children at events
- Contributions from the wider community and local businesses
Participation is voluntary but highly valued.
4. Who Decides How the Money Is Spent
Decisions on spending are made by:
- The elected PTFA Committee (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and any supporting officers)
- In consultation with the school leadership team
Process:
1. Requests for funding can be submitted by school staff, parents, or PTFA members using a standard funding request form.
2. All funding decisions are discussed and agreed upon at PTFA meetings, which are open to all parents and carers.
3. Larger spending decisions (e.g. over £500) are voted on by committee members and minuted for transparency.
4. All decisions aim to be fair, transparent, and in line with the PTFA's objective.
5. How the Money Is Spent
Funds are spent on:
- Enhancements to teaching and learning (e.g. classroom resources, library books, technology)
- Enrichment opportunities (e.g. trips, workshops, visiting speakers)
- Well-being and inclusion initiatives
- Playground equipment and facilities
- Events that build community or benefit pupils
Spending must align with the PTFA's objective and benefit as many children as possible.
