UK Indoor Athletics 2024

On 17th and 18th February I had the honour of attending the UK Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The athletes compete to achieve the mark for selection for team GB in the upcoming World Indoor Champs in Glasgow and the Olympics in France.

My new best friend Dwain Chambers was still competing aged 45 alongside stars such as Laura Muir and Kat JT.

Athletes turned coaches were also spotted in the crowds, Linford Christie and Darren Campbell.

The most joy of the event for me came when I had the great privilege of watching an ex pupil from Goudhurst & Kilndown competing in the women's 400m. Asha Root performed amazingly in her forst UK call up, finishing 4th in her race. Asha trains at Tonbridge AC and can also be found behind the reception desk at the Old Parsonage Surgery in Goudhurst.
