Phonics

We follow the “Monster Phonics” programme in EYFS and KS1…..

Monster Phonics is a DFE listed programme that uses a colour-coded grapheme system linked to monsters!  Each coloured grapheme is paired with a monster character that makes the same sound to give audit-visual prompts that help children 'se' each sound within a word and pronounce it correctly.  Monster Phonics is taught in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and it uses a cumulative approach, building on previous learning.

Author Ros Wilson quotes "Monster Phonics is unrivalled as an all-encompassing and exciting phonics approach for EYFS and KS1 and as an intervention programme in KS2.  Using colour to show sound makes it truly multisensory, which is why it helps all children learn".
