Emily ReedClass Teacher
Emily ReedMy name is Emily Reed. I have been at Benenden Primary since 2015 where I joined as a Newly Qualified Teacher. I completed a degree in Childhood Studies at Christ Church University and then my PGCE at Southampton University. Prior to this I attended collegewhere I studied Childcare and whilst doing my degree I was a teaching assistant.I have always wanted to be a teacher and am thrilled to be fulfilling my dream. I love being in the classroom and helping children learn, especially when it's through fun! When I am not in the classroom I am outside teaching Forest School. I gained my Level 3 award in 2018 and myself and Mrs Tompsett have slowly developed it to what it is today. I love seeing the children in a different environment, the looks on their faces when they manage to climb a tree all by themselves or light a fire. The confidence and self esteem it builds in a child is something that every child should be given the opportunity to develop.Outside of school I am a simple person to please - take me to Disneyland or let me cuddle a penguin. I try to incorporate these into my teaching as much as possible so many of the children know these are loves of mine. I am also an Explorer Scout Leader. I have been doing this for the past 8 years after previously being a Brownie 'Brown Owl'. I think it is such a good association to be a part of that feels like a family and teaches children some valuable life skills.
Pip MaynardPPA Cover Teacher
Pip MaynardHi, I'm Pip! I joined the 10:10 Federation in Sept 2020 as a placement for my PGCE and am so excited to be continuing my time here as an ECT in both Year 2 and Year 1. I completed my BA in Theology and Youth Ministry at ForMission College while working for a Christian charity called High Hopes (you might have heard of them from our assemblies!). I also spent this time supporting children and young people in schools and churches across West Kent as a youth worker.I knew I wanted to teach after working in schools to deliver assemblies, RE lessons and lunch clubs and absolutely loving every moment of it. Some of my favourite subjects to teach are Geography, RE and Science and I enjoy coming up with new and different ways to explore the concepts we are learning about in class.Outside of school I play Flugelhorn and Cornet in two different brass bands as well as spending time exploring the countryside with friends.
