Swallows Teaching Team
Mia JacksonClass Teacher
My name is Mia Jackson and I am the year five class teacher. Following my placement at Benenden in 2019, I was lucky enough to join the teaching team as an NQT and have loved every moment!
I completed my training at the University of Brighton, focusing on my specialism in Mathematics where I learnt how to support all children on their individual learning journeys using maths talk, manipulatives, games and targetted questioning. I really believe that every child has the capacity to be excellent mathematician and I look forward to exploring, investigating and problem solving with Swallow class. Although I am most passionate about the teaching and learning of mathematics, I generally love to learn! This has always been a significant factor for me in choosing to become a teacher and promoting a love of learning in the classroom is something I strive to do.
With most of my family being in the hospitality and catering industry, outside of school I love to eat out and try new foods, which I've realised happens often enough to be considered a hobby! I enjoyed bringing this interest into the classroom last year by using the cookery room as often as possible and creating our own class edible garden.
