Greg Clark Visits the Federation

At the end of June I wrote to the Right Honourable Greg Clark, Roger Gough, the leader of Kent County Council and Sean Holden who is our local County Councillor requesting if there was going to be any more flexibility for schools to be able to invite more children back before the end of term. Sean Holden responded immediately and visited me at Benenden School.  Last  week I have received a very positive response from Greg Clark who arranged to visit Goudhurst & Kilndown CEP School on Friday 10th July.  I have it on good authority that he has heard excellent reports about how our Federation is doing, in general and in providing education/support during the pandemic, returning children back into full time Education. Indeed, I had the pleasure to show Greg round G&K last Friday and he took time to visit all the satff and children in every "bubble" and then joined me in the Forest with some of Year 1. He was eager to learn about our experiences of our 'journey' since March 20; from initial lockdown, initiated home learning, Google Classroom, Critical Worker provision,  welcoming back Years R, 1 and 6 as well as hearing our plans for September.  He was particularly impressed with the lengths that our staff have gone to during this period and acknowledged the incredible resilience, support nd positivity that you the parents have shown during this time too.

The highlight for me though was when I received a Whatsapp message from him on Saturday evening once again thanking the Staff for their continued dedication and commitment during this pandemic and he finished with the phrase: "I was very impressed Lindsay!"
