Welcome to Class 3 Kingfishers!
Welcome to the Kingfisher Class page. Kingfisher class is exactly the middle class in the school and as such we consider it pivotal. It is the transition from KS1 to more independent learning and more formal work in KS2. It is during this year that our children will grow in maturity and independence which will set them in good stead for future years.
Mrs Hutchings teaches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Smith on Thursdays and Fridays. We split the curriculum between us, but work very closely on those subjects that span the week such as maths and English. We have an open door policy with parents and welcome you to talk to us about any concerns that effect your children, be they academic or otherwise.
Please can you help us by ensuring that your child reads every night and learns all their number bonds and times tables (2x,3x,4x, 5x and 10x initially then 6x,7x , 8x and 9x) as this will help them in all aspects of maths and English.
The topics that we will be covering are the Ancient Egyptians in the Autumn term, followed by a unit on Rivers and concluding the year with the Saxons and Malawi. We are currently arranging trips to go with each topic. We link our other work in art and DT to the topics if at all possible.
We look forward to working with you and your children
