Welcome to Woodpeckers Class!
Welcome back to a slightly unusual start to what I'm sure will be a memorable final year of primary school at Benenden. Myself, Mrs Walsh and Miss Seal are so excited to see you all back safe and ready to learn.
In our final year at Benenden, we will not only cover the curriculum learning but we also aim to ensure that our children are 'secondary ready'. We hope that our Year 6 children will become more independent, resilient and reflective as learners and have a lot of fun along the way too! Highlights of the year include looking after a Reception Class buddy, a week long residential trip and taking a leading part in the summer play. In addition to our in class learning, Forest School is an integral part of school life and Woodpecker class enjoy a session per week over 2 terms in the school forest as well as numerous outdoor learning opportunities.
Our first topic is titled 'Perilous Peaks' in which we will be studying the physical geography of mountains, the Earth's structure and map skills - for more detailed information please see our curriculum matrix and for weekly information please see the 'This week's learning' tab.
