My name is Emily Reed. I have been at Benenden Primary since 2015 where I joined as a Newly Qualified Teacher. I completed a degree in Childhood Studies at Christ Church University and then my PGCE at Southampton University. Prior to this I attended college where I studied Childcare and whilst doing my degree I was a teaching assistant.
I have always wanted to be a teacher and am thrilled to be fulfilling my dream. I love being in the classroom and helping children learn, especially when it's through fun! When I am not in the classroom I am outside teaching Forest School. I gained my Level 3 award in 2018 and myself and Mrs Tompsett have slowly developed it to what it is today. I love seeing the children in a different environment, the looks on their faces when they manage to climb a tree all by themselves or light a fire. The confidence and self esteem it builds in a child is something that every child should be given the opportunity to develop.
Outside of school I am a simple person to please - take me to Disneyland or let me cuddle a penguin. I try to incorporate these into my teaching as much as possible so many of the children know these are loves of mine. I am also an Explorer Scout Leader. I have been doing this for the past 8 years after previously being a Brownie 'Brown Owl'. I think it is such a good association to be a part of that feels like a family and teaches children some valuable life skills.
