I am looking forward to being part of Benenden School, the wider community and the 10:10 Federation from September 2020.
Teaching is not my first career but was a natural progression following our move as a family to Kent and the decision to change my career to support our family life. I became intrigued by the different education system here than the one I was used to and got involved as a volunteer, school governor, built community links, sat on the board of a local Children's centre and taught French in local schools both as an extra-curricular club and delivering curriculum French. Since qualifying from Canterbury Christ Church University, I have taught across all Key Stages, led and developed various curriculum areas as well as helped to train the next generation of primary and secondary teachers.
I went to University in Glasgow, Scotland and then worked for global electronics companies helping to bring new products to the market across industries and across continents. I used my French extensively living and working in France and for a Quebec based company as well as living in Sweden and learning Swedish when I was there to help in my job. I still have a passion for languages and cultural understanding but commuting to a local primary school from the village where we live is much easier than juggling global travel with 3 children but equally as interesting and varied!
If you have any skills that you think could help supoprt and enhance Year 5 in their learning this year then please do get in touch. As the saying goes 'it takes a village to raise a child'.
