We think of our school as an integral part of the village community in which it sits. We have a very good relationship with St George’s church and Rev David Commander. David regularly leads assemblies in our new school hall and we celebrate the main Christian festivals in the beautiful church.
We are fully aware that were it not for local support, hard work and generosity from members of the local community, our amazing new school would not exist. We were very happy to hold an open day for the community to show off our wonderful new facility, which seemed to be well received.
Each year we support 2 charities, one of which is local. This year the local charity is Starfish Malawi. This sounds like a misnomer, but the founder Chris is a local man and came into share with the children his passion for the project.
We have sung carols at the residential home and Benenden Hospital and always invite the local pre-schools to our school plays and nativities. We have a good relationship with Benenden Girls’ School and some of their girls come to help at lunchtimes and in class. We also welcome their teachers to our school to experience a primary school as part of their training.
Now we have a hall on site, we are looking forward to expanding our contacts within the community and if you have an ideas for further links please email the school office.
